Atalanta responds to Lookman, Percassi: "The agreement was to sell him abroad."

Atalanta responds to Lookman, Percassi: "The agreement was to sell him abroad."

A new chapter in what's becoming a veritable soap opera. After Lookman came out in public yesterday, officially requesting his transfer in an Instagram post, accusing Atalanta of "not keeping their promises," it's the Bergamo club's turn to respond to the Nigerian striker, a transfer target for Inter.

The promise of Atalanta

"Lookman? This is a good opportunity to clarify what happened," said CEO Luca Percassi on the sidelines of Marco Sportiello's presentation. "Last year, faced with a €20 million offer from PSG, the player asked us to sell him. Atalanta, being a credible club, promised to be able to sell the player this transfer window, based on two conditions he himself had set out for us: first, to join a super-top European club, a club that would never have been seen in Italy wearing anything other than Atalanta, both for what he did and for what he received from the club."

The scenario has changed: "Today the situation that you know is very different - added Percassi -, in any case the club is always careful to evaluate the times and the values of its players, but as always it is the Atalanta club that decides".
